This is something I’ve been musing on since my recent re-read of You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero.

She talks about our identity and how our understanding of our own identity can impact our belief system.  I hadn’t made that connection, and it’s a goodie.

For example, I recently recognized a gap between my ideas in my head about living consciously and what I was actually practicing. I’ve always strived to do things like recycling and composting, although I recently spotted a particular place where I wasn’t being congruent with doing it.

It’s been useful to reflect on who I’m choosing to be; and the way I decide to show up in the world in my version of being a ‘bad ass’!…

…To claim being the person who’s actively living lightly; that’s what I do and that’s who I am. 1

This affirmative-thinking shift has been big for me.

I totally get that we can each make such a difference when we align our thinking with what we believe. After all – what do we have to loose?

At the end of the day, who amongst us wouldn’t benefit from being more confident and believing in our ability to do what we say we will?

I think we all can, and a handy place to start is being real and keeping it real.

As always, I welcome your insights, and in the meantime, I’ll see you soon on this week’s #AliveWithFi

Keep sharing your sunshine ?

1We may often underestimate the importance of our self-talk and what we believe about ourselves: “One of the most basic ways that beliefs can shape reality is through their influence on behavior—no quantum physics needed. For example, if you believe that you’re capable, competent, and deserving of your dream job, you’re probably more likely to notice and seek out opportunities that could help you get there.” Our belief system can influence our actions in terms of what we conceive as being possible.
