Chris Folland here answering this week’s question ‘Is it too late for me to get ahead in life?1

I can relate to this because I’ve had that many times I’ve had thoughts like – oh, now that I know the way the system works, if I could go back earlier in my life, I would have done this, I would’ve done that, I would or wouldn’t have done the other.

Can you relate?
Wow, these thoughts are so familiar to me! In particular those that relate to our finances.

Is it too late for me to get ahead? My belief is it’s not.

Yes. It is ideal for us to be being proactive earlier in our lives, for compounding purposes (with investing) to give chance for the effects to kick in and allow even greater returns.

However!

Now is always the best time to do pretty much anything.

The time is now.

I’m looking at my wood shed that needs overhauling, and it’s raining right now. So now is not the best time to actually go and pull everything out of the wood shed, fix it and then stick everything backinside, because I’m just going to make the situation worse. So I need a sunny day so that I can simply go and get on with the job.

Wherever possible though, don’t put it off til tomorrow. Do it nowis the best mantra I know for getting things done.

Colonel Sanders from KFC is a great example in relation to age because he was 65 years young when he started his what-is-now mega-successful business! Was he wealthy at that stage of his life?

Nope! He was basically broke,  I believe he was living off his social security cheque. However he had a tasty fried chicken recipe and a big dose of resolve to go and share that chicken recipe which he then turned it into a massive, global, franchise brand.

Whilst I’m not a fan of the food, I am a big fan of the story. Because basically whenever I’ve lived in the past and thought ‘You know, living in my present thinking I don’t actually have time to do what I want to do. I don’t have enough opportunity to make a real difference’, then I’m just living my excuses, I’m not living my best life which is right now.

Your best life is the opportunity that you have right now and you can literally create whatever you choose in this moment. What you do right now will affect your future.

So, is it too late to make a difference?

My take is that it’s absolutely not!

There are vehicles or ways of making money which are faster and more leveraged, so I really encourage you to reach out or PMFi and she can find out more about your scenario, and take you through one of the options that may be the best fit for you.

Have a fantastic week ahead, as you go and find your niche, go out there and do good in the world – because now is the best time!

Until I see you this week’s #AlivewithFi, ciao for now!
