Last September I shared my favourite focus foods (revisit the Sept blog and the vlog ) and today I’m sharing three more brain-boosting gems:

  • Blueberries – these mighty wee beauties are packed with antioxidants that can promote and support blood supply to our brain;
  • Green leafy veggies – when fresh, organic, and raw, they can help to provide excellent nutrient-dense fuel to improve our focus (a handy way for both ourselves and kids to enjoy these is in smoothies)
  • Green tea – an absolute favourite of mine for energy and well-being, and I especially enjoy matcha.  Originating in Japan, matcha allows us to consume the whole plant, making it the most potent form of green tea¹.

Heads-up! There’s a convenient green tea option I use that you might like to know about too…I use it when I’m working out (a small sachet I simply add to my water bottle) or enjoy as my regular green-tea-antioxidant-boosting drink.

It’s low GI (no sugar spikes thank you!), and contains rhodiola and ginseng – so it actually supports our adrenal function. And get this – it even contains L-carnitine, so it helps to shuttle the fat in our cell to be burned; so effectively it actually helps us to create our own energy supply. It’s the ultimate in a healthy-energy-drink (yup – I meant to write that..it’s not a typo!)

If you’d like to know about this handy wee sachetmessage me ; and if you’re in the first 3 to reach me, I’ll send you a gift of a sample to use for yourself!

¹From Healthline.com, “7 Evidence-Based Benefits of Matcha Tea”:

Matcha “comes from the same plant as green tea, but since it is made from the entire leaf, it packs in a more concentrated amount of antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds.  Studies have revealed a variety of health benefits associated with matcha and its components, ranging from healthy weight regulation to decreasing the risk of heart disease. Best of all, the tea is simple to prepare, so we can incorporate it effortlessly into our diet, giving your day a burst of extra flavor and health benefits (https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/7-benefits-of-matcha-tea).
