Let me explain – let’s say you’re digging into today’s tasks, and you come across the one item on your list that you absolutely dread.

For me, my terrible-task was being the bookkeeper.

So, after several years of much hand-wringing, moaning, resisting and making myself and others miserable whenever the task was on the table, I realized that it actually belonged in the D-pile.

The D-pile is the one for tasks it’s time for us to Ditch, Delete, or Delegate.

For bookkeeping, my best option was to delegate.

My challenge was that we didn’t have the money coming in to allow me to delegate, so that was one of my first goals: creating the income to delegate what I realized it wasn’t wise for me to be doing.

If there’s something that drains you, that’s awful for you, and that’s not about whether you’re just being lazy or not – it’s actually not resonating, then what would it (or could it) – be?

I invite you to decide – and then take the D-pile Decision. 1

I’ve found it to be a game-changer, and I’m curious to hear if it’s something that you’ve ever come across and if yes – what you’ve noticed?

In the meantime, I’ll catch you on this week’s #AliveWithFi

1 When we’re faced with tasks we dread, our best approach is to ditch, delete, or delegate, or to just do it until we’ve delegated it. Because the feeling of dreading whilst not accomplishing our tasks can be more draining than learning how to deal with them.  “How to Use the 4 Ds of Effective Time Management”  B. Collins (2018)
