I believe this has the potential to be one of those questions that can help us think about what’s really going on.

A few years ago, the penny dropped for me that I wasn’t being fully present. I was doing what needed to be done but it was as if I was sleepwalking.

That realisation was a strong nudge for me to find ways for me to be more aware rather than just going through the motions. After all, who wouldn’t want to be present and feel more congruent with who they really are/want to be?

What I came up with (and maybe you can relate with the need for this?) is giving myself more time to let my mind just be.

Namely, time that’s not filled with anything.

For me, meditation is an effective way of doing this. I also call it mindfreeness time.

Our minds are often full enough that what we actually need is unburdened mental time. And what I’m finding is that giving myself this type of time allows me to be more present in other situations and circumstances too.

It can be a key element in stress reduction. 1

I’m curious to hear if you’ve ever felt you’ve been sleepwalking, and if so – have you found any ways to change that for yourself?

If you know of someone who may be able to relate, please do share this blog/vlog – as who knows? They may find benefit.

I’m looking forward to seeing you for this week’s #AliveWithFi. ‘Til then, keep following your sunshine ☺

1 We’re often so used to it that we might not even realise how “discursive thinking—the constant stream of one thought following another—is a deeply ingrained habit. It’s so ingrained that we often start thinking just to occupy our minds.” However, this is precisely the reason that it can be powerful to intentionally challenge our minds to relax. As it turns out, “the practice of not-thinking is restful, calming, and restorative.”
