I can go for long patches of wondering how I could ever feel anything other than bullet proof. And then it happens – I’m booked up back to back and I’m asked at the last minute by a dear friend to help them out and it clashes with something important I have scheduled.
What to do? The obvious answer is to explain that I’d love to. I’m already scheduled with something immovable then – can a different time work?
However – have you ever been uncomfortable to take that step?
I so have!
I still do sometimes.
Although with baby steps it’s getting more do-able.
So what helps?
Pausing and considering the knock-on effects of not doing what I originally said I’d do…
Taking a few calming breaths and centering myself…
Deciding to honour us both and tell the truth! Oh what a relief when I do.
